Manic Thursday

Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004

Driving in this morning with Old Annie and her colleague we saw some kids at a busstop wandering into the road. As we passed them they seemed to be looking further up the road. A car had hit the back of a lorry that was turning and gone off the road and into the hedge. So we stopped and called the police. The driver of the car was a young woman who wasn't badly hurt but very shaken up by it. The lorry driver seemed ok at first but later he seemed to be suffering from shock too. They were both taken to hospital, and we were allowed to carry on to Old Annie's school. It could have been so much worse. The girl's car missed a telegraph pole by literally inches. If she'd hit that....

I reckon we must see at least one accident a week on the drive to or from work. People are always in such a rush. They need to chill out, man. Have a little smoke. Be cool, be calm. Relax. Yeah right. At 8.30 on a Thursday morning when you're late for work, being cool and calm is not an option.
